New Alarm App Engages Heavy Sleepers with Interactive Tasks

In a world where waking up can be a challenge, a newly launched iOS application is here to revolutionize the way heavy sleepers rise in the morning. This innovative app, designed specifically for those who struggle to get out of bed, requires users to complete engaging tasks to silence their alarms. Released on Monday, this app is compatible with the latest iOS 26 update, which also debuted on the same day.

Unlike conventional alarm clocks that can be easily dismissed with a tap, this app is crafted to stimulate the mind and body, ensuring users are fully alert before they can turn off the alarm. As soon as the alarm goes off, users are prompted to engage in a series of interactive challenges that must be completed to deactivate the sound.

The tasks range from physical activities like rotating the device or doing push-ups to mental exercises such as solving math problems, puzzles, or even language quizzes. By integrating both physical and cognitive challenges, the app aims to disrupt the habitual snooze button cycle, promoting a more energized start to the day.

While there are other applications on the market that offer similar functionalities, this app distinguishes itself with unique features. One notable addition is the “Morning Briefing,” which provides a tailored summary of information selected by the user the night before, including weather updates and calendar events.

Moreover, the app includes a Block integration feature that restricts access to social media immediately upon waking, helping users to focus on their morning routine. Future updates are expected to introduce a feature that allows users to listen to new podcast episodes as soon as they wake up.

Additionally, the app offers a sleep planning tool that enhances sleep quality by allowing users to input their desired sleep duration and preferred wake-up time, subsequently calculating the optimal bedtime.

Leo Mehlig, the independent developer behind this app, created it in response to significant demand from users of his previous daily planner application. Inspired by the announcement of iOS 26, which introduced a new Alarm Kit framework, Mehlig recognized the opportunity to develop a more effective alarm solution for those who find it difficult to wake up in the morning.

“I realized there had to be a better alternative to the traditional alarm clock for individuals who struggle to rise early,” he shared. “We had always intended to create something like this, but it was put on hold until the announcement of the Alarm Kit, which motivated us to move forward with development.”

This app is available for free, with an optional premium subscription priced at $6.49 per month or $19.99 annually, unlocking additional missions such as turning on lights, scanning QR codes, and walking a specific number of steps. One of the missions even challenges users to recite a mantra.

Looking to the future, Mehlig plans to introduce a feature called “Wake Up Check,” which will verify whether users are genuinely awake after completing their tasks. By utilizing the step counter, the app will monitor user movement post-mission; if no activity is detected, a notification will be sent. Should the user remain unresponsive for a few minutes, the app will activate another alarm to prevent them from falling back asleep.
