If this is your first time using the feature, a pop-up will appear, informing you that your location is not visible to others unless you choose to share it.
Customizing Your Location Sharing Preferences
Upon your first visit to the Map, you will be prompted to select who can see your location. Options include sharing with friends, a close friends list, specific users, or opting out entirely. To modify these preferences later, access your profile, go to settings, and select ‘Story, live and location’ followed by ‘Location sharing’ to make your adjustments.

Even if you have disabled your location sharing, you can still view the locations of friends who have chosen to share theirs.
